Aliens, a Brothel and Mysterious Military Operations; it’s all part of the Journey

“It is about the journey, not the destination” is a famous quote attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson and many others.  In our case, the journey is about hiking the 211-mile long John Muir Trail, but getting to the START of the journey has also been part of the adventure.  It took us 4 days to drive from Durango, CO to Lone Pine, CA., drop our vehicle off at the end of the trail,  take a shuttle from Lone Pine, CA to Mammoth Lakes, CA., stay overnight in Mammoth Lakes, take the Yosemite Area Rapid Transit from Mammoth Lakes to Yosemite Valley, stay at the backpacker’s campground and then start hiking the morning. Phew!! The drive was interesting. We had to stop in remote southern Nevada to get gas. The only place to stop for gas was the “Alien Cathouse Brothel” which is right across from the mysterious Area 51, a military base with top-secret operations going on…Check out the pictures…It was an experience.

Amargosa Valley, Nevada; where the aliens hang out.
But that was not why we headed west. Stay tuned for our first day on the John Muir Trail. Just a note. We are now hiking and will be out of range for many days straight. It is possible I will only be able to upload in towns when we reach our resupply points. So you may see many a number of days downloaded all at once.  Take care.
