What is a “Thru Hike” and how are we defining it here? When you ask anyone for an example, most people will mention the Appalachian Trail or Pacific Crest Trail. In general, a thru hike is considered to be a long distance hike completed end-to-end in one season. Thru hikes can be along a trail or off trail along a high route or cross country. We have done both types of thru hikes. Here are the thru hikes we have completed:
